CCareline 13 18 19 – for help finding help
Our CCareline 13 18 19 team was formed in 2017 to assist struggling families to find the services they need in difficult times. Our professional case managers assist callers to find help with relationships, parenting, senior services, disability support, addictions and mental health concerns.
By the end of 2017, we were aware there were a sizeable number of people calling CCareline who were distressed and could not wait to be linked in with a face-to-face service before gaining support. From welcomed donations to this service, we have employed a telephone counsellor who effectively provides immediate relief and assistance to callers who are distressed.
Using an approach that takes into account how the client is feeling and the crisis they are managing, we offer immediate help to reduce distress, to help clients feel safer and allow them time and space to find ways to reduce their pain. Once they feel calm, we assist them to find services that will provide longer-term support.
Moving forward we are looking to employ more counselling staff and invest in counselling training for current CCareline staff to provide the best possible service for all our callers.
